A Short Burst On Violence

Liberal Vs Conservative. Gun Control Vs 2nd Amendment. Black Vs White. Rich Vs Poor. Christian Vs Muslim.

We seem to have so many things that we are violently polarized about in this society.

Why?

Because we want the future to look “the way we want it to look”.

But, what if controlling the future is not supposed to be our domain, but God’s?

God gives us today.

But for the vast majority of us that’s not enough.

We want to guarantee that the future will go well for ourselves and our loved ones even after we’re gone.

But that is a form if idolatry.

Give yourself mind, body and soul to the people that God has placed in your path TODAY…with NO REGRETS whether tomorrow comes or not!

Why?

Because, loosely speaking, we are always one massive solar flare away from oblivion at all times anyway.

Whether we acknowledge it or not we are strictly at God’s mercy all day everyday anyway.

Control of even tomorrow is strictly an illusion.

Just Love!!!

A Short Burst On God’s Law

We often talk about the Laws of Physics, or the Law of Gravity, etc.

But did you know that there is a law that governs the entire universe.

I call it “The Law Of Creation”.

“The created eventually must obey its creator”.

It makes no difference whether you perceive it, understand it, believe in it, or even disagree with it.

It simply is.

Planets obey it. Oceans obey it. Trees obey it. Stars obey it. Even platypuses obey it.

Now, guess which species doesn’t?

Now guess which species the planets and oceans and trees and stars and platypuses are working to bring back in line with the rest of the universe?

Now guess what happens if we don’t…?

A Short Bursts On Idolatry

A simple working definition: Idolatry.

Attempting to guarantee one’s future. Or attempting to guarantee the future of loved ones.

Won’t work!

Why not?

Through our struggles we learn compassion and faith.

When our future is guaranteed we quickly lose our compassion and eventually our need for God.

Cherish today. Tomorrow may be a struggle. But oftentimes the struggle itself is the very thing we need to build our faith.

Belief In God VS Faith In God

Did you know it is possible to go to church every week and spend your entire life believing in God, and yet never once have FAITH in God?

What, those aren’t the same thing?

No!

One can have a BELIEF in God and still do the most unimaginably ugly things to people (sometimes even in God’s name).

But a genuine FAITH in God is something completely different.

It doesn’t just change a person’s habits, it changes a person’s priorities in life.

Do you BELIEVE in God? Are your priorities changing? Hmmmmmm?

A Short Bursts On America As A Christian Nation

Around eighty percent of Americans profess to believe in God.

It is generally assumed that that number is an indicator that America is therefore a Christian nation.

However, what if just believing in God is not enough?

What if as Billy Graham says, some eighty percent of people who profess to believe in God aren’t really Christians?

Is there a way to know?

How about “…you will know them by their fruit…”?

Okay, what fruit would you say Christian Americans are spreading as we turn the page onto 2013?

Peace, patience and kindness or lying, cheating and stealing?

Which do you see?
